This is the chair that all modern pieces are based on, it has a solid mahogany frame, the leather upholstery is thick cattle hide, I would say its later leather maybe circa 40s-50s. The frame mechanism is stunningly cast with thick industrial steel. Ive been in the trade some time and Ive only ever seen one other of this model, this really is the prototype for all modern captains chairs, this is where it all began. The condition is excellent, Ive checked the frame over, theres not cracks or damage, these chairs are made with a long steel axel thats mounted inside a steel frame, the technology wasnt there when this was made to stop all side to side play and still allow the chair to swivel so even though its 100% solid and secure it does have a 360 degree roaming play.
