Vintage Retro 60s Set of 4 Habitat / Robin Day Dining / Office Chairs model 675
For sale set of 4 iconic dining / office chairs designed by Robin Day in 1952 (model 675). The chairs most prominent feature is its curved oak plywood backrest. Pioneering at the time, Robin Day overcame the difficulty of forming a single moulded plywood chair with armrests by creating a bent shape using a singular curve rather than a double curve. With its pared-down form and undisguised structure, this chair was one of Robins favourites. A follow-up to his Royal Festival Hall Restaurant Chair, the 675 Chair has a simpler moulded plywood seatback and is more minimal and refined.
Finished with a oak-veneered ply back, black powder-coated steel frame and cream leather upholstered seat pad in the words of Robin Day: metal for strength and lightness... Wood for touch and appearance. The chairs are in excellent vintage condition (two of chairs have tiny veneer chips visible on close inspection). Collection from Forest Gate (E7 9JX).
